| Marina Beach Party ALERT!!! The next annual Marina High Alumni Beach Party is now set for Saturday, July 16th, 2011 (12 noon to 10 pm). The party will be at The Bolsa Chica State Beach somewhere between Lifeguard Towers 25 and 26, which is just a few blocks south of the Warner and PCH intersection. Just like last year's Beach Party, there will be a massage table and cabana tent provided by one of our natural health doctor classmates. We will also provide banquet tables for food and drinks along with a giant bonfire. We expect several classmates to bring their Motor Homes as well. Wow. A website and everything! Have never made it to any reunions because I wasn't living in California for a long while. Lots of semi-permanent job travel with my job back then. Sad News!!! Coach Dave Thompson (Marina's old head football coach) recently passed away. The services for him will be on December 5th, 2009 at Grace Lutheran Church (Saturday at 2 pm - corner of Edinger and Goldenwest). Many of you may remember seeing Coach Thompson at the Reunion Party just two years ago. He was an excellent coach, teacher, mentor, and friend to many of us. We will miss him!!!!!! |

Hello All, I attended Marina High for a very short stint in '77 or '78 for only a few months. In that time I was befriended by a girl name Vee Bible. I believe the Vee was short for Vera, but I am not positive about that. I also think she was in the class of '82 but again, not positive. Dear Class of 1982: I am so happy to see this website as I am trying to reach many of you to inform you of the tragedy my family has recently suffered. My brother Orlando Garrido tragically died last Tuesday, January 15th in Scottsdale, Arizona. He leaves behind a 21 year old daughter and an 11 year old son whom he had custody over. Orlando was an accomplished Jockey and raced at Los Alamitos, Santa Anita, NY's Belmont Park and Aqueduct and most recently at Turf Paradise in Phoenix. He was enjoying his life with his horses and caring for his son. He grew up to be an amazing father, incredible athlete and opened his heart and home to everyone. He continued to charm everyone he came in contact with. He played Polo and was the President of the Scottsdale Polo Association. He and my father built a ranch in New River, Arizona and he was so proud of his home and ranch. My parents are still in Huntington Beach at our same house on Vane Circle. If you remember Orlando please remember him for everything that he did and his wonderful personality. If you have memories to share, I am creating a Blog and will list photos and other information. I invite you to visit the blog and send your thoughts, funny stories or memories with my family. Hi all you little "dickens, I am so sorry I could not be at reunion but as some of you know, I am in Maine caring for my mom, who was 101 in August!!! I also run my antique and gift shop, right on Route 1 on the coast of Maine. I still have my townhouse in Buena Park, but can only get there now for a month, when my daughter comes from Colorado to relieve me. She has a life so can only come for a few weeks. But, when one spends the winter in Maine, one will take a day!!!!" But I am fine and still frisky, enjoy life, have a wonderful Maine man to spoil me and still dream about teaching all of you. I left OC in 1990 to attend grad school in Illinois & haven't been back since except for family visits. Have been married for 13 years, with 2 kids--a daughter, age 10, & a son, age 6. We've moved around a lot, and are finally settled. I still hang out with Diana Foss and her family. | Hi everybody I cannot believe we are old enough to be out of high school for 25 years! I currently live in Reno Nevada, divorced my first husband 9 years ago and remarried 6 years ago. I have two amazing boys Joel 13 and Dean 10. I also inherited two step daughters one is 19 and the other 16. My husband is a first sergeant in the Nevada Army National Guard. He will be retiring in 3 years as a master sergeant (E9) with 30 years in. I probably will not be at the reunion. But it is nice to see what everybody has been up to for the last 25 years. | It is hard to believe that 25 years has gone by since we were all just looking at our futures. Now we are all no longer skinny and wrinkleless! We may have children, been all over the world, changed careers several times, maybe even marriages. But as we look at old photos we remember the kids that we were once. It will be an enjoyable evening of catching up! This will be my first reunion. I am a bit nervous and anxious! High School was a tough part of my life and I really do not remember many from this difficult time. I do plan on attending, provided I can get away from my current studies for a few days. | I managed to avoid the 5yr, 10 yr and 20yr reunions. I'd like to make this one but it is the same weekend as the San Diego International Comic Book convention ...hmmmm decisions, decisions. I was in Band, who REALLY wants to see me again? Happily Married 15yrs, 3 children, work from home doing home loans for folks who need them. I run a summer marching band program called Impulse Drum & Bugle corps, we're in the HB 4th of July parade every year (once a bando always one) Still in HB, in the same house, caring for my 84 yr old Mom. Dad passed last year. HB has totally changed since 82..for the better? That should be a new poll. It's still a nice place to live. | |||
